The Train was founded in November 2004 and is based in an old noth Amsterdam shipyard. We are a fashion agency dedicated to urban, fashion and denim labels, targeting both the commercial and luxury segment of the Benelux lifestyle market.
Our 3 core values are; Understanding our clients’ needs, Selling our collections to the relevant retailers in the correct market segment and Supporting our clients. We truly believe that our mix of labels will inspire you & your customers.
We operate in the mid/high street, jeans and luxury segment of the Dutch retail market. In our international brand offer we present a balance of innovation, commercialism and excitement. Kai-aakmann’s decidedly modern exploration of masculine and feminine attitude expresses a directional perspective and approach to design. When defining an essential wardrobe for forward thinking men and women, Kai-aakmann delivers key pieces. Deconstructing the traditional ideas of menswear and womenswear, Kai-aakmann strives to create a harmony between the masculine tradition of precise tailoring and the softness of feminine draping. This harmony results in a brand that speaks to an intelligent, curious, and contemporary customer. Born in Seoul, Korea, Kai-aakmann designer, Soonjin Park studied fashion design in college and upon graduation, started designing for Morris Coming Home. The brand had a unisex element that played to the Park’s interest in creating genderless fashion. She soon launched her own collection, Eloq, which allowed her to develop her own singular design aesthetic. In 2007, Park joined Kai-aakmann, a brand that gave her a larger platform to apply her personal design skills. Since joining Kai-aakmann, Park plays with the duality of not only male versus female, but avant design and classicism, all with an emphasis on a comfortable and youthful ease. Largely inspired by youth and street culture as well as nature, Park’s design find inspiration from her daily environment, whether it be in the silhouette of a dress or the color palette of the season.

Kai-aakmann is sold at designer department stores such as Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus as well as independent retailers such as Oak in New York,
Fred Segal in Los Angeles.

Inspired by Saint CYR, Kai-aakmann Fall/Winter 2012 collection takes its cue from the military tradition. Soonjin Park expresses the timeless and formal aspect of the ‘uniform’ and melds it with the tension and energy one associates with military school. Saint CYR is the foremost French military academy with the motto “Ils s’instruisent pour vaincre“: literally “They study to vanquish” or “Training for victory” given by Napoleon Bonaparte himself. Like the motto the collection is bold and structured and reflects the military’s unisex tradition.

The combat field jacket is an iconic piece that Kai-aakmann re-interprets each season. The functionality and detailing of the field jacket is transformed into formal coats and pants. The draw-strings at waist and hem to regulate warmth and the front zipper with a storm-flap which can be buttoned over are some of the functional details that can be found in the collection. Military inspired coats are double breasted with epaulettes and two-toned, tailored to perfection.

Strong lines and sturdy forms dominate the collection and matt materials are used to emphasize the unisex DNA of Kai-aakmann as well as the military tradition. No distinction is made between the women and men collection in its fabrication. The uniquely developed Nordic pattern injects a fresh, young take on the austere military uniform.

Royal navy and khaki used in military academy is the main color for the collection. Bronze, slate and camel are used to compliment the masculine side of the navy color. Ink blue is used in the specially developed Nordic pattern giving the collection bold accents.
